This crap haunted me for years: if you have a very odd sound on your game or screen recordings on Windows (the exact app don't matter), that's because Audio Enhancements were never supposed to be done before such recordings. And they are wrongly applied on record, then re-applied again on playback. Which makes it sound like a reverb, echo, or cropped sound. Disable this in the settings of the specific device, then in your software (OBS / NVIDIA / etc.) do not use "default" device, pick the exact one.
