According to analytics, EA is currently in debt by $18B and have to pay roughly $1.8B/y for this. But they only generate about $1.5 of net profit a year so they have to cut costs and fast. BioWare are not the last bastion to fall this autumn — more will follow during November talks between the stakeholders. Instead they have to focus on EA Sports and Shooters which company only sees through the prism of Battlefield 6 and Apex Legends.
