You’re too old.
You have too many kids.
You didn’t go to the right school.
Unpopular opinion: those are just excuses you’re telling yourself.
I first did Y Combinator in 2010. I was 29, had two kids, and had a Bible degree.
16 years later, I’m back in YC. I’m 45 and have six kids.
What mattered then is what matters now: build something people want, know your market, and grow.

I couldn’t explain my own company.
So I drove to Palo Alto and had Paul Graham do it for me.
16 years ago, Paul was my group partner during my first Y Combinator batch.
Last week, I ran into him at a YC dinner. He invited me to his house for office hours.
I told him our problem:
We manufacture drugs, help patients get prescriptions through doctors, and ship those medications directly to their doors.
Normally, that’s four or five different companies. We’re doing it under one roof.
Paul’s answer:
“Direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical company for personalized medicine.”
Something that was impossible before AI.
I think it’s a banger. What do you think?

Yesterday, we threw a Peptide Party at Y Combinator.
Free haircuts. A doctor. One goal: turn founders into customers.
32 people got haircuts.
3 became customers.
9% conversion rate.
Apparently free haircuts are now part of our customer acquisition strategy.
I did YC in 2010. I don’t remember this being in the curriculum.
